WHO removed Nigeria from list of Africa countries to receive COVID-19 vaccines

The world health organization has removed Nigeria from their shortlisted of Africa countries that are expected to receive COVID-19 vaccines due to inability to meet the storage facility criteria as directed by the governing body

Earlier, Nigeria government had said they are expecting 100,000 doses of covid-19 vaccines through Covax initiative, an initiative that procure vaccine for countries regardless of their income

This development was discourage by Prof. Babatunde Salako who said Nigeria is yet to have facilities in place to store those expected vaccine, the statement which was immediately condemn by Dr. Faisal Shuaib the executive director of national primary health care development agency

The WHO director on Africa region said out of 13 countries that show interest and submitted proposal for the vaccine only four countries were selected adding that WHO can not afford to waste any of the vaccine
