Universities Workers protest: FG is using divide and rule tactics – The union leader accused FG

The non-academic staff union in universities has describe the federal government sharing formula for N40 billion allowance promised as illegal and accused of being using divide and rule tactics for the university unions.

Recall that on December 22, the federal government agree as part of ASUU demands, to release N40bn which led to the suspension of their 10 month nation wide strike but Non-academic staff union in university has kicked against the plan of FG to share the fund in 75% for ASUU and 25% for other union in the universities

The General Secretary to the Non-academic staff union of education and associated institute, Mr. Adeyemi Peter said

Meanwhile, the chairman SSANU/JAC in the universities, Uche Onyedi threatened that the union will embark on strike if federal government fail to meet their demand

Speaking with ASUU president, Proff. Biodun Ogunyemi, he noted that ASUU do not have any business with other union except the interest of their members and the union don’t have issue with the ongoing protest because they are also asking for their right which should not stop ours

He further said, ASUU earn allowance is still an ongoing discussion with the federal government
