Two arrested and a truck stuck with substandard “Pomo” imported from Madagascar intercepted in River state


A truck completely stuck with substandard animal hide, well known as “Pormo” that are imported from Madagascar has been interested by the River state government

The truck was intercept in Onne, Eleme Local Government Area of the state

Dr Fred Kpakol, The state Commissioner for Agriculture, who made this known while addressing the newsmen said the two person who accompany the loaded truck into the country have been arrested

Ha said

“We got a tip-off that some canda meat that was imported found its way into the state. We went in and found out that it had come in from the Onne Port. It’s was a container full of canda meat. We were able to intercept it and took it to the area command. When it was opened, it was discovered that it was adulterated and stinking.

“From the import paper, we found out that it came in from Madagascar.”

Meanwhile, the two arrested with the truck claimed that the animal hide was imported for making shoes and bags purpose adding that the goods belong to a man who they called Alhaji

The state government, however, said investigation is ongoing
