Parents have been banned by Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) from coming with their children to any of Unified Tertiary matriculation examination (UTME) Center
The decision was made by the board and disclosed by the JAMB registrar, Prof. Is’haq Oloyede whole some of registration center in Kwara state.
Oloyede mandate it to any of their UTME accredited centre to not allow parents or guardians to come close to the examination venue
According to Punch news, Oloyede noted that presence of parents and guardian in the examination venue usually caused distraction for both their world and the center also make the venue congested which makes COVID-19 protocol very difficult to observe
The statement read as
“The registrar said it has been discovered that the parents/guardians are always a distraction to both candidates and the centres and at the same time, congesting the halls by not following the COVID — 19 protocols.
“Oloyede also advised parents/guardians to stop pushing the education of their wards faster than necessary.
“For example, a 14 or 15-year-old is not matured enough to undergo the process of registration and university pressure and are vulnerable to exploitation by scammers out there.”
