FG Set To Engage Jobless Youth On Maintenance Of Public Infrastructure With N20,000 Allowance

The minister for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo {SAN} made it known in news conference held on Thursday that 1000 jobless individuals from every local government in the federation will start earning  N20,000 each

In addition to the effort of federal government in curbing and controlling the effect of pandemic on our economy, federal government has rolled out a programmed called “special public work programed in the rural area” which will involve 774000 unemployed persons across all LGAs of each state in the federation.

It is not a news anymore that coronalvirus ravaging the world right now has sinked many nations’ economy including Nigeria, where many job are loss, according to IATA, they project that 91,380 jobs are at risk in Nigeria aviation sector alone and already known that SMEs are responsible for most Nigeria employment as they account for 96% of business and 84% of job.

 the programme is set to kick start on October adding that Mr. President has already signed the pilot scheme which will be implemented starting from four local government area in eight states, which include: Adamawa, Borno, Kwara, Kastina, Jigawa, Ebonyi, Edo and Ekiti.

He added that this programme will essentially involve unskilled people specially pick from indigene of those local government area which are to engage drainage digging and clearance, street cleaning, traffic control, irrigation canal clearance, mentainance of green wall nurseries, rural feeder, road mentainance, cleaning of government own properties such as healthcare Centre and lot more.

The minister further added that 40,000 direct transient job  were expect to be  created in the eight states selected for the pilot scheme and will lasted for three month

Collation of data of interested people will be carried out by a selected bank from CBN for sake of transparency and accountability, and all allowance will be directly from central bank, he added.
