The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control in Nigeria, NAFDAC have approved the Oxford Vaccine also know as AstraZeneca COVID19 vaccine for all Nigerian to use and are expecting the first batch before February end

The approved vaccine which was also know as ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 or AZD1222 is a vector Vaccine which was made from adenovirus derived from chimpanzee with the aim to improve immune of human body system and to create a resistance force against SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19).

The approval of the Oxford Vaccine was disclosed on Thursday Mourning February 18 by the Director General of NAFDAC, Professor Mojisola Adeyeye who said they have received the sample of the vaccine some days ago and have immediately forwarded safety department for assessment and evaluation the safety, efficacy and level of effective of the vaccine on Nigerian

According to the DG, she said the vaccine also show high level of effective against new COVID-19 Variance detected in the United Kingdom which also have discovered in Nigeria adding that so far the south Africa COVID-19 variant is yet to be discovered in Nigeria

The vaccine which she said can be store in 2-8 degree centigrade is expected to arrive Nigeria before the end of February adding that there are also additional 3 other vaccines on trial and 30 herbal medicine under review and evaluation for listing
